Hello dear walkers,

front of the train station where
I will be waiting for you.
Return by the same station.

See you on Wednesday,
Daniel R.

Spring walk in the Forêt de Marly  - 15k

We propose a 15 km hike in the eastern part of the Forêt de Marly.
It will start and end at the Gare de Bougival. It will be entirely in the forest                              except when we will cross the site where Louis XIV’s chateau once stood.                              We will also glimpse the modern “Louis XIV” chateau owned by the Prince heir to the throne of Saudi Arabia.

There will be several hills, especially in the morning. We are doing this hike now                                      before spring rains make the paths slippery.

Getting there:
Gare St.Lazare, Line L, train SEBU, departs at 9:09, direction St. Nom La Bretèche,                                                                                                              arrives at Bougival at 9:43.
The L trains are accessible at La Défense as well.
We will board the train at the Val D’Or station.

Return trains: 15:31, 15:46, 16:01, etc.

Bring your usual gear, picnic lunch and your positive energy, “comme d’hab”.

Hike for 17 April

Fontainebleau Forest

Longer hike
The hike will start and end in Fontainebleau-Avon. It should be about 17k.
We will walk through the forest to Rochers du Mont Ussy and to Rochers Cassepot where we will have lunch.
There will be some ups and downs (estimated cumulative elevation gain: 300m). We will walk at a steady pace.
Wear good footwear, bring enough water and snacks.

Shorter hike with Jean-Louis about 14k
The hike will follow the general same route, following easier paths if need be. After lunch at Rochers Cassepot, you will return to the station by a shorter and easier route, at least 5k. To be discussed at lunch or earlier if need be.

Getting there:
-Take train to Montargis at 9.16 from Gare de Lyon, arriving at Fontainebleau-Avon 9.55, Zone 5 (the train stops at Melun).
Departure should be from Hall 1 -lettered platforms- but check on arrival.                                                   I will meet you at Gare de Lyon.
-Return trains from Fontainebleau-Avon every half hour, 40 min journey:
15:34 -16.03 – 16:32 – 17h03 …
There is a brasserie next to the train station.
If you do not have a “Passe Navigo”, or benefit from any discounted fares, buy a "Mobilis 5 zones”.
See you on Wednesday,
Laurence

Walk for 10 April 2019

1 – Sous les cerisiers en fleurs – 9 km
Hello Walkers,

As a short option for next Wednesday, I propose a 9 km walk along the Coulée verte, located south of Paris.
We'll start at Châtillon then follow the green ribbon through Bagneux, Fontenay aux Roses and Sceaux with a detour to Parc de Sceaux. There we'll have a look on the Château and picnic under the cherry trees in bloom.
La pointe of this hike is to appreciate the beauty of the flowers (o-hanami) of cherry trees (sakura) and share the picnic with friends, without haste, so bring something to sit on and enjoy the instant.

Getting there:

Take the Metro line 13 (it passes through Gare St. Lazare and Gare Montparnasse) direction Chatillon-Montrouge.
Get off at Châtillon-Montrouge, take Sortie Châtillon (on right) where I will wait for you. RV at 10am.

After lunch you can go back to the metro Chatillon by foot on the same Coulée verte 6 km or take RER B at the nearby station Croix de Berny, zone 3, frequent trains to Paris.

A mercredi

2 – Juziers – 22 km

Dear Hiking friends
This week I propose you to discover a new route in the French Vexin Park.

From Juziers, we head north to reach OInville Moncient then continue to join Breui en Vexin. In Oinville we can see windmills and washhouses and before Breuil we go to see the sepulchral alley of the Cave aux Fées.

This new course is for athletes (who you are) with its 22 km and 450 m vertical drop.
We will maintain a sustained rhythm in order not to return too late. No bailout.
As usual, take a picnic lunch, water and of course, shoes and clothing adapted to the season,
Getting there:
From Paris St Lazare Train MICE at 9h02 to Mantes la Jolie via Conflans, arriving at Juziers at 9h53 where I will wait for you. Return by the same station.
Meet up in front of the platform, travel in the rear car with the group if you wish.
See you on Wednesday.
Daniel
