The path is easy but about 22 km.

Hike for Dec 7

From Fausses-Repauses to St Cloud -   18/20 km

Dear walkers,
This week I propose a walk from Chaville to Saint Cloud by the "Forêt de Fausses-Repauses" and the "Parc de St Cloud".

Approximately 18/20 km and 450 m of elevation. Picnic lunch by a small pond.
As usual, take a picnic lunch, water and of course, shoes and clothing adapted to the season (the ground is not too muddy) without forgetting your good mood.

Getting there:
Train from Paris St Lazare at 8:53 (VASA) where I will wait for you (in the last car), arriving at Chaville Rive Droite at 9:11.
The train usually leaves from platform 1, 2 or 3 (Direction Versailles RD). Return by Saint Cloud station, trains are frequent.

See you on Wednesday,

Daniel R.

Hike for Nov 23

Canal du Loing     -  18 km

This is a 18 km hike along the Loing Canal. We start from the lovely sailor's village of Saint-Mammès, where the Seine river and the Loing river meet. We remember that the 32 mile long lateral canal of the Loing links the Briare and Orléans canals and, therefore, the Seine to the Loire.

Obviously, no ups and down, except some stairs for crossing the canal...
The passage of barges through the numerous locks is  always an interesting attraction.

We walk along the charming canal till we reach Grez sur Loing, an other lovely place where many painters had settled into their habits, at the end of XIX century, particularly at Laurent pension or Chevillon hostel.

Picnic lunch, hot drink, sturdy shoes and more, are required as usual.

Hike for Nov 16

Forêt de Rougeau  -  18 km

This 18 km hike in the Forêt Régionale de Rougeau will be a loop starting at the RER D station of Savigny le Temple.  It will be mostly on flat ground, with just a few short ups and downs. For the really "pur et durs", there is a possibility of extending the hike to 28-30 km, but you would need the IGN 2415 OT MAP 1:25,000 and guide yourselves.

Since this is the first time we have walked as a group in this forest here is a bit of information about it.

As in the Foret de Senart, there are magnificent old oak trees, numerous ponds and at least two interesting sculptures.

Travel: RER D Châtelet Les Halles, train Zaco, at 9:01, direction Melun. This train passes through the Gare de Lyon at 9:05. You may want to sit together in the last car. Arrival Savigny le Temple at 9:47.

Return trains: 16:25, 16:40, or 16:55, depending on our pace. The trip takes 45 minutes.

You will need a picnic lunch, sturdy shoes, rainwear and maybe a hot drink, and of course you great sense of humor. Picnics in November start to be chilly.

See you on Wednesday!
