Vallée aux Loups and Forêt de Verrières - 13k with bailout

Hello walkers,

For next Wednesday I propose a 12-13 km walk with some slight ups and downs, just a few km south of Paris.
We will walk through the Vallée aux Loups and Forêt de Verrières to the Parc de Sceaux via Coulée Verte du sud parisien.
If need you can take bus 194 after 4 km or bus 294 after 8 km both going to Gare de Robinson and  Metro Chatillon-Montrouge.

Getting there :
From CHATELET-LES HALLES take RER 'B' at 09:23 Direction: ROBINSON
The same train from DENFERT-ROCHEREAU at 9:31,
arriving at 09:49 in Robinson -  Zones 3

At Gare de Robinson walk to the head of the train then to the right and take the exit Av. Jules Guesde,
The meeting place will be on the top of the stairs.

Return to PARIS:
From the Gare LA CROIX DE BERNY, RER 'B', Zone 3, frequent trains 
As usual bring a picnic lunch, water and good will.

Hike for 24 October 2018



L'Isle Adam to Presles -  about 20 km with bailout to Mériel (15 km)

This week I propose a 20 km hike , near the Oise river and through the Isle Adam forest. 
 During this walk, you can bail out towards Méreil where you can catch a train  (about  15 km).

Getting there:
Gare du Nord: 
On line H take the TER POVA  to PERSAN BEAUMONT at 9:00 which  arrives at L'ISLE ADAM PARMAIN at 9:49. 
For the long hike, return by PRESLES  COURCELLES station.; each half hour at 16.17; 16.47... (arrival at Paris after 33 min.)
For the short hike, return by MERIEL station.; each half hour at 16.15; 16.45... (arrival at Paris after 34 min.)  

As usual, remember to wear hiking shoes and clothes appropriate for the weather, plenty of water and a picnic lunch. And, of course your usual great sense of humor.

Along the Vaucouleur valley - 20 km                                                                                                               

Dear hiking friends,
The Vaucouleur river is a small river which flows into the Seine river, near Mantes la Jolie.
We will follow its valley through hills and small villages before returning to Mantes.
The hike is about 20 km, not too hard (about 350 m of elevation). One bailout possible ( after 15km)
As usual, take a picnic lunch, water and of course, shoes and clothing adapted to the season without forgetting your good mood.

Getting there :
From Paris-St Lazare Train to Bréval at 9h07, arriving at Mantes la Jolie at 9h42.
Then exit by the footbridge Mantes la Ville side and take the bus, line K, which starts from quay 21 
at 10h00 direction "Buchelay René Renault" (Zone 5). Get off at "Marronniers”(you can ask the driver )  where I will wait for you.

Return by the same station, direct trains at 16h04 and 17h01

Hike for 10 October 2018




 Champagne-sur-Seine - Vulaines-sur-Seine/Samoreau - Fontainebleau

Longer walk around 20km, with Laurence
Shorter walk no more than 15km and easier, with Mary Lynne

This hike will start in Champagne-sur-Seine (right bank)
and will end at Fontainebleau-Avon train station, about 20k or 15k.
In the morning, we will walk through the forest and along the river to Vulaines-sur-Seine/Samoreau, after lunch we will cross the river to walk in Forêt de Fontainebleau.

Both walks will follow the same route in the morning. One rock formation (Rocher Samoreau) with some ups and down, not hard.
Lunch spot will be the same. After lunch, the shorter walk will head directly towards 
Fontainebleau through the forest, flat ground. The longer walk will follow a longer, a bit more hilly route through the forest.
Wear good footwear. Carry enough water. 

GETTING THERE:
-Take train GAMA from Gare de Lyon direction/to Montargis at 9.16, arriving at Melun at 9.43, 
then change for train KOHO to Montereau at 9.48 arriving in Champagne-sur-Seine at 10.12 ; Zone 5.  
Not much time to change in Melun with some walking to the platform. All will have to make haste.
We will sit in the 4th car from the rear of the train
Departure should be from Hall 1 (main hall-lettered platforms) but check on arrival. I will meet you at Gare de Lyon by the platform.

-Return trains from Fontainebleau-Avon every half hour:  16.01 (arr:16.47) - 16:30 (arr:17.17) - 17.03 (arr:17.48) 
There is a brasserie next to the train station.

Unless you have a "Passe Navigo” or benefit from discounted fares, buy a "Mobilis 5 zones" for the day

Hike for 3 October 2018


  

Loop around CROUY-SUR-OURCQ -  about 18km with bailout

This week I propose an 18 km hike in Seine-et- Marne, N/O of Meaux. During this walk, we can see the castle of Crouy-sur-Ourcq (keep 14th c; church of 16th c); 
marsh & bogs; Gèvres Castle (17th c); at Coulombs-en-Valois: church (17th c)
Bail out possible at Certigny, 4km from Crouy,  total 12k

Getting there:
Gare de l'Est: Train Transilien P line; ZIMO. (to Chateau-Thierry) at 8:51; stop at TRILPORT at 9.20 ; change to the Tansilien Line P "FOMO" at 9.28 (to La Ferté Milon); arrive at Crouy: 9.44. 
return by the same station.; each hour at 15.13; 16.13... (arrive at Paris after 57 min.)

As usual, remember to wear hiking shoes and clothes appropriate for the weather, plenty of water and a picnic lunch. And, of course your usual great sense of humor.
