This week, Daniel Perot will continue to lead us on the GR 2 along the Seine, this time from Fontaine le Port to Champagne sur Seine. Here is his information:
Ce mercredi 23 juin, nous continuerons le GR 2, depuis Fontaine-le-Port jusqu'à Champagne-sur-Seine. Le parcours se fera partiellement le long de la Seine, que nous quitterons plusieurs fois pour apprécier les forêts et les villages environnants. Le charmant village de Samois, où vécut Django Reinhardt, célèbre guitariste, compositeur et chef d'orchestre de jazz français, retiendra particulièrement notre attention.
Coïncidence : A l'occasion du centenaire de la naissance du jazzman, le Festival Django Reinhardt se déroulera à Samois, du 23 au 27 juin.
Wednesday 23 June we continue the GR 2 from Fontaine le Port to Champagne sur Seine. For the most part our path will follow the Seine, with several detours to appreciate nearby forests and villages. We'll pay special attention to the charming village of Samois, the home of Django Reinhardt, famous jazz guitarist, composer and orchestra leader.
Our walk will cover 18 km. Those who want a shorter walk can catch a train back to Paris after 12 km.
Getting there At the gare de Lyon take the train GIMO at 10.05 direction Montargis, arriving at Melum at 10.31. There we change for train 51439 at 10.36 direction Montereau, arriving at Fontaine le Port at 10.47.
Purchase a one-way ticket as the return will be from a different station. If you are coming from the suburbs into Paris and then on to Fontaine le Port, a six-zone Mobilis will be slightly cheaper and much more convenient than

As it happens, the hundredth anniversary of his birth will be celebrated by a Django Reinhardt Festival at Samois 23 - 27 June. Full information at
