On July 6 Bob Levy will lead us on a lovely riverside hike along a tributary of the Seine, the Yerres River. Here is Bob's information:
This is a walk perfect for warm summer days. The route begins south of Paris at Boussy St. Antoine then proceeds along the River Yerres. 15 km, always beneath shade trees and through forest and park. This walk is absolutely level.
Also it provides alternatives for those wanting a shorter day; the RER 'D' at Brunoy (1 hour 45 minutes) or Yerres (3 hours 30 minutes).
The walk gives us a choice of countless picnic spots, passes a fascinating public farming cooperative, and ends in Villeneuve St Georges at the RER 'D' (zone 4). Trains return to Paris every ten minutes.
Meeting Info. GARE DE LYON, REAR of the platform RER 'D', DIRECTION 'MELUN' at 9:10 for the train at 9:23. It is a 35 minute ride. PURCHASE A ONE WAY TICKET to BOUSSY St. ANTOINE (zone 5).
The GARE de LYON 'D' station can be confusing so leave ample time to identify the proper Quai.

Home from the walk -- great to see so many old friends and meet new ones. I've posted a couple of pictures: http://ellenlebelle.blogspot.com/2011/07/ile-de-france-walk-at-last.html
The Caillebotte exhibit at the Musée Jacquemart André is still on -- until July 11! We stopped at the Caillebotte property in Yerres on our walk. I've seen this exhibit and it is beautiful.
Thank you Bob for preparing a wonderful walk for us last Wednesday. Just as you said: shaded and flat - most of the time. A lovely area which I had no idea it existed.... Thank you from me and other walkers in the group who appreciated this outing.
