We have just one offering for next week, but a terrific one, again near the Yvette, downstream from last weeks's walk. Judy will lead and here is her info.
This week we will walk 19.5 km from Courcelle sur Yvette to St . Remy les Chevreuse , with a chance to walk a couple of kilometers along the old trackbed of the experimental aerotrain , idea of the engineer Jean Bertin - ( farsighted or slightly potty ? You can make your own judgement from the interesting panels along the way!) http://www.limours.fr/L-aerotrain-de-Jean-Bertinhttps Aérotrain 01 - 02 Experimental - Music by Jean-Jacques Perrey "Coeur Synthétique" We will also visit the pretty villages of Gometz le Chatel and Gometz la Ville (where we will have lunch ) . We may make another brief stop for a 5 minute rest in the centre of Les Molieres if we are making good time . There is one long uphill and as you know what goes up must come down but aside from that no difficulties . We will probably - no make that definitely - find mud but on the whole it is not too bad underfoot , however at this time of year you will definitely need good footwear , boots preferably , warm and waterproof clothes , lunch , and water .There are no bail out options as unfortunately the aerotrain never came to fruition !TravelI will drive so will meet you at Courcelle sur YvetteTake RER B train PLAC direction St Remy les Chevreuse as far as Courcelle sur Yvette from Gare du Nord at 9.05 , or Chatelet les Halles at 9.08 , or St Michel Notre Dame at 9.10 or Denfert Rochereau at 9.16 or any other station in between arriving Courcelle at 9.53 ! As these trains rarely run to time I suggest you get on the first one that comes and if you travel in the last carriage , with a bit of luck you may meet fellow walkers!Return trains are at worst every 15 minutes .Both stations are in Zone 5Hope to see you WednesdayJudyLandline 01 30 80 01 34Mobile 06 79 48 38 81
