February 25, a hike or a city visit

This week we have two options: a hike in the valley de l'Yvette with Daniel Robinot and a visit in the Batignolles district of Paris with Marcel Kohl. You have to decide if you want to be a city mouse or a country mouse. Both options have a cultural aspect.

First the information for the city mice:

Où  en est le chantier des Batignolles?

Pour le savoir, le rendez-vous est à la sortie (av.de Clichy) du métro BROCHANT, ligne 13 (attention direction Asnières-Genevilliers) à 10h10

A 10h30, à la Maison du Projet-155 bis rue Cardinet-une architecte-conférencière, Corinne Martin, nous présentera tout le  projet architectural, et les réalisations du quartier(conférencière et documentation free of course)

 

Ensuite, nous traverserons le magnifique parc Martin Luther King ,nous verrons où en sont les chantiers du tribunal d’Instance

et du siège de la police judiciaire(Cour d’Ecosse-Scotland Yard), nous irons saluer le poète Verlaine (Le ciel est par dessus les toits...) au cimetière des Batignolles

 

Après avoir emprunté la rue Pierre Rebiere pour admirer l’originalité de se bâtiments,

nous arriverons à la Cité des Fleurs, si paisible, et enfin nous jouirons de la chaleur du Comptoir Brochant où nous déjeunerons(optional of course):

plat au choix +dessert au choix=13,90 euros

 

Ensuite, promenade(optional of course) dans le square des Batignolles et le vieux Batignolles où flottent les ombres de Manet,Zola,Jacques Brel,Mallarmé,Henry Miller....

Visit of the Batignolles quarter ( 17eme arrondissement) with its immense construction site

How is the work progressing on this site? To find out, join Marcel Kohl at the exit Brochant, (Avenue de Clichy), of Metro line 13, direction Asnieres-Gennevilliers, at 10:10. Our first stop will be at the Maison du Projet, 155 bis, rue Cardinet where an architect-lecturer, Corinne Martin, will present the architectural aspects of the project and what has been done in the area under construction. This visit is free.

Next we will cross the magnificent Martin Luther King Park to see for ourselves the progress on the Court House and the seat of the Judicial Police (the French Scotland Yard) and we will proceed to the Batignolles Cemetery to pay respects to the poet Verlaine ("Le ciel est par dessus les toits").

After admiring the original architecture of buildings on rue Pierre Rebiere we will walk down the peaceful street "Cite des Fleurs",  and then on to  the warmth of the Comptoir Brochant for lunch, optional of course. choice of main course + dessert = 13,90 euros.

After lunch, if you wish, we will visit the Square des Batignolles, with its incredible variety of water birds,  and then the  old Batignolles quarter in the shadow of Manet, Zola, Jaques Brel, Mallerme, Henry Miller, etc.  

Now for the country mice:

 

The day of the 25 will be well filled. I propose to you an excursion in the valley of the Yvette, a small river which will accompany us often during walk.We will begin this day with a small walk of approximately 5 km before arriving at Le Mesnil Saint Denis where we will visit the abbey Notre Dame de la Roche (45 mn approximately and 7€ the visit). Then we will go to the  park of the town hall-castle for our picnic lunch.
After this quiet morning, it will be necessary for us to go at a  good pace because there will remain 13 to 14 km to be traversed. But there will be many things to see, I leave you the surprise; take your cameras.

The visit of the abbey will be accompanied by a person from the tourist information centre. Try to have the exact amount of money ready (7€), and, as usual, good shoes, sunscreen and humour. I will deal with the weather :-)

Return Coignières to Paris, train every 30 mn. 15:05, 15:35, 16:05,…

VF :

Le journée du 25 sera bien remplie. Je vous propose cette semaine une randonnée dans la vallée de l'Yvette,  petite rivière qui souvent nous accompagnera pendant la marche. Nous commencerons cette journée par une petite marche de 5 km environ avant d'arriver au Mesnil Saint Denis où nous visiterons l'abbaye ND de la Roche (45 mn environ et 7€ la visite). Puis nous nous rendrons à la mairie-château afin d'en faire le tour et pic-niquer dans le parc.

Après cette matinée tranquille, il nous faudra marcher à bonne allure car il restera 13 à 14 km à parcourir. Mais il y aura plein de choses à voir, je vous laisse la surprise, prenez vos appareils photo.

La visite de l'abbaye sera accompagnée par une personne du syndicat d'initiative. Essayez de faire l'appoint de monnaie. Et comme d'habitude, bonnes chaussures, crème solaire et humour. Je m'occupe de la météo :-)
