hike for August 28

Dear Hikers,

Michel Browne will lead our hike on August 28. Here is his information.

Our 16 km walk will take us from  the Lagny-Thorigny SNCF station to the Torcy RER A station.

The walk will be mostly along the Valley of the “Gondoire” and of the “Brosse” two streams that flow into the Marne.
After a quick walk east along the Marne river to avoid the city of Lagny, we’ll go south and uphill through the Bois de Chigny, before going back down to the Gondoire river.  A lot of new paths have just been created and we’ll take advantage of that.  Perfect picnic spot half way on the stream.  After lunch we’ll go uphill again, passing in front of the Château de Guermantes.  Again following a brand new path, we’ll go back down to the valley of la “Brosse”.  From there, we’ll go through the Château de Rentilly domain that belongs to the “Departement” to reach the RER in Torcy.
The walk is easy, there are no diffilcuties.   Plenty of technical stops available everywhere.
However, both valleys of Gondoire and Brosse being in the middle of a green remote spot, there is no possible escape before the end of the walk.
Getting there: To be in Lagny-Thorigny, around 10, take the 9h31 train toward Meaux, line P from Gare de l’Est.  I’ll wait for you in Lagny.

Return will be from the Torcy RER A station, trains every 10 minutes to most big stations in Paris.

hike for August 7

There will be only one walk this week and it will be led by Judy Choat on Wednesday. Here is her information:

This week on Wednesday we will walk 15 km in the shady forest of Rambouillet on a mostly level path . In fact there are only a couple of small rises which are so short you will be at the top before you have noticed them ! We will pass 3 attractive lakes and will picnic at the third where there are seats probably towards 1 pm

Bring lunch and wear appropriate clothes and footwear.

In view of the possibility of hot weather don't forget plenty of water, hat , BUG SPRAY, sunblock etc. On the other hand it could pour with rain -who knows !

I will set a moderate pace so you will need to come with plenty of energy in order to keep up !

Travel Arrangements

I WILL DRIVE SO WILL SEE YOU AT LE PERRAY STATION AT THE EXIT AVENUE DE LA GARE

Take train ROPO from Montparnasse direction Rambouillet as far as Le Perray en Yvelines at 9.35 arriving Le Perray at 10. 35

DO NOT MISS THIS TRAIN BECAUSE IT IS TOO LONG A GAP UNTIL THE NEXT TRAIN

Return trains from Le Perray are every half hour

Le Perray is in zone 5 should you wish to buy a mobilis ticket
