Hike for January 27

Dear Hikers,

Our walk on Wednesday 27will be with Daniel Perot.

Also: Optional visit in the Parc of Maisons-Laffitte: + 4/5 km.
----
The walk will be in the Forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. We will
start from Saint-Germain, admiring the château of François Ier and walking along
the château terrace with its panoramic view towards Paris. Then we will
zigzag through the forest to our destination at Maisons-Laffitte, a
lovely residential town known for its horse racing.
----
Transportation and meeting point.
Take the RER A,  direction Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
The train leaves Châtelet/les-Halles at 9:35 and Etoile/Charles-de-Gaulle at
9:41. Arriving at Saint-Germain-en-Laye at 10:05. We will return from the station "Maisons-Laffitte", on another branch of the RER A.
Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Maisons-Laffitte are in zone 4.
----
Arriving at St-Germain station, take the exit "église".  The meeting point is in front of the church.
----
Bring your picnic lunch, water and Winter gear.
Don't forget your "galette des rois" and your crowns.

----
Why not?

See you soon!

hike for January 20

Dear Walkers,
Next week we have one option, a 20 km walk at a steady pace with Daniel Robinot near Rambouillet. Depending on the weather and the wishes of the walkers, this walk could be lengthened, but Daniel does not envisage a bailout possibility. Train information is below. Daniel will meet you at the station of Essarts-le-Roi at 9:46. This train passes through the station of Versailles Chantiers, as do all IdF trains from Montparnasse to Rambouillet. The train back to Paris will be from the same station, Essarts-le-Roi. You will need a picnic lunch, and of course shoes and clothing adapted to the weather. Comme with a smile and be prepared to laugh. Goodies to share are always welcome, but not required, smile.

Remember, all walkers need their own accident and liability insurance.

Here is Daniel's information in French.

Amis randonneurs, bonjour.

A bientôt.

Daniel

Attention: Vous avez besoin de votre propre assurance accident et responsibilite civile.

two hikes for January 13

Dear Hikers,
This week we have two options. Remember you need personal accident and liability insurance to participate in our hikes.

First Dominika's information:

Hello Walkers,

For 13th of January I propose an easy 10 km walk on the flat ground south of Paris, from BOURG LA REINE to IGNY.

We'll walk through the Parc de Seaux, then will take la Coulée Verte until the Parc Heller, Antony where the River Bièvre disappears underground.
There we'll see the remains of the last mill then have a lunch on the picnic spot. From this point we'll go upstream until la Gare d'Igny (RER 'C').
There will be a possibility to leave after about 7 km as we'll pass near la Gare de Massy-Verrières, zone 4, RER 'B'

Departure from CHATELET LES HALLES  RER 'B' at 09:41
Direction MASSY PALAISEAU
From DENFERT-ROCHEREAU the same train, 8 minutes later
Arrival in BOURG LA REINE at 10:01 zone 3
RV outside the main exit, sur la haute platforme de la Gare de Bourg la Reine

Return from IGNY, zone 4, RER 'C' trains to Versailles-Chantiers or Massy-Palaiseau, changing to RER 'B'

Bring a picnic, winter and rain gear and good will.

Looking forward to seeing you
I wish you All the Best

Dominika

Now for Judy's information for a hike in the Val d'Oise department:

Hi fellow walkers !
I hope it isn't too late to wish everyone a Happy New Year from Bonnie Scotland where we need two days public holiday to recover from our Hogmanay celebrations !

This week's walk is a mere 16km but it is hilly , nothing steep or long or difficult just plenty of ups and downs . We will pass some pretty villages , a couple of chateaux , a lavoir and several Christian crosses at the side of the Roman road named La Chaussee Jules Cesar .
We will walk right past Montgeroult station after about 12km however the service from there is sketchy to say the least - only one train that may be useful at 14.31 otherwise you will have to do the last 4km ( its nice ! )

TRAVEL

I WILL DRIVE SO WILL SEE YOU AT BOISSY L'AILLERIE

Take train YOLA from St Lazare  at 8.58 direction Boissy L'Aillerie as far as Boissy L'Aillerie (zone 5 ) arriving 9.47

Be friendly and travel together in the rear carriage of the train because after all it is still the season of goodwill .

Return trains from the same station are hourly at 34 minutes past the hour taking approx. 50 minutes to arrive back to Paris St Lazare . The most likely return trains would be either the 14.34 (possible) or the 15.34 (probable)

In case you hadn't noticed it's winter ! Therefore come adequately prepared with warm and waterproof clothing and footwear (it's bound to be muddy) . Bring lunch and water

See you Wednesday

Judy

New Year's Walk, Januray 6, 2016

Hike for January 6 - Forêt de Fontainebleau

The hike will start from Bois le Roi and will end in Fontainebleau-Avon. It should be about 17k.
We will walk through the forest to Rocher St Germain, part of Rochers Cassepot and Rochers du Mont Ussy, and other smaller rock formations near Fontainebleau.
There will be many ups and downs (estimated cumulative elevation gain: 300m), boulders and narrow passages that may not agree with bad knees.
Wear good footwear, some rain is in the forecast. Lunch will be around 1pm, bring snacks.

All hikers need personal accident and liability insurance.

GETTING THERE:

-Take train to Montargis at 9.19 from Gare de Lyon, arriving at Bois le Roi at 9.50, Zone 5 (the train stops at Melun. Departure should be from Hall 1 -lettered platforms- but check on arrival). I will meet you at Gare de Lyon, we will sit in the last car.

-Return trains from Fontainebleau-Avon every half hour: 16.00 (arr:16.41) - 16:30 (arr:17.15)
There is a brasserie next to the train station.

If you do not have a "Passe Navigo", or benefit from any discounted fares, buy a "Mobilis 5 zones" (16.60€)

See you on Wednesday!

Laurence

ps: Sorry, but I don't have a cell phone.
