01 February 2014

Remember, all hikers must have personal accident and liability insurance.

Daniel knows that we have walked from Rambouillet to le Perray in December, so he will vary the itinerary this time, trying to avoid mud as well. There are no difficulties, but also no possibility of leaving the walk early. The itinerary will include seeing the chateau and walking in its park.

Take train ter 16757 leaving Montparnasse station at 9:06. This train passes through Versailles Chantiers at 9:22 and arrives at our destination, Rambouillet, at 9:43. Daniel will wait for us in front of the station.

A bientôt.

and now from Daniel Perot: a shorter walk with a bailout possibility. (and with his usual humour)

A new route from the East of Bois de Vincennes.
We will start at Château de Vincennes then continue by lac des Minimes. A few hundred meters and we entered a curious garden that looks like lost civilizations. There you will discover a Chinese Gate, a Kmer Bridge, a Pavillon de l'Indochine, a pagoda, a mosque, some statues lying among entangled weeds, etc.
Don't worry, I have never smoked that sort of cigarettes that make you laugh.
What is it? Where is it?
This little known place is "Jardin tropical". It housed the Colonial Exhibition in 1906. All that in Paris!
I am sure you will enjoy.
After this trip in the colonies we will walk along the river (la Marne) and return to Paris via Nogent (pavillon Baltard) and Joinville.
----
It will be a 13/14 km walk with the possibility of bailing out after 9/10 km.
----
Get there -- Meeting 10:00 a.m. at métro Château-de-Vincennes (end of the line 1), exit 2.
End of the walk: métro Porte-Dorée.
Bailing out: RER Joinville-le-Pont.
----
You will need a picnic lunch and water, and sturdy waterproof shoes as the
Bois de Vincennes can be muddy.
