Two Walks for June 1

Dear Hikers,

We have two walks scheduled for next Wednesday, with Dominika Raveau and Daniel Robinot. Here are the details of their walks.

With Dominika Raveau:
For next Wednesday I propose a nice 15 km walk with various landscapes in the middle of the valley of the Bièvre river.
We'll start in Jouy en Josas, famous for its "toile de Jouy" and climb trough forest with ponds and golf course to Plateau de Saclay then walk through fields. We'll see bucolic scenes, farms and the old village of Saclay. Then we'll follow the Favreuse ditch in direction of Bois Brûlés leading to the Gare d'Igny.

How to get there - 2 possibilities:

1/Correspondence in Massy Palaiseau
08:44 CHATELET LES HALLES RER B    dir. MASSY PALAISEAU
09h17 MASSY PALAISEAU
Correspondence 09:25 RER C dir. VERSAILLES CHANTIERS
09h40 JOUY EN JOSAS

2/Correspondence in Versailles Chantiers
08:49 ST MICHEL-ND RER C dir SAINT-QUENTIN EN YVELINES
09:27 VERSAILLES CHANTIERS
Correspondence 09:44 RER C dir. GARE DE VERSAILLES RIVE GAUCHE
09:51 JOUY EN JOSAS
Please don't be late, trains are not frequent and I can't wait for you (peu de temps à Massy Palaiseau, ne vous trompez pas de correspondance!).
Rendez-vous in front of the main exit de la Gare de Jouy en Josas. Retourn from IGNY on the same line RER C zone 4.

Wear appropriate clothes and good shoes and bring snacks, a lot of water, your picnic and your good will.
A mercredi!

With Daniel Robinot:

Amis randonneurs, bonjour.

Daniel

Hike for May 25

Dear Hikers,

Next Wednesday, May 25, Daniel Perot will lead us along the banks of the Marne River. Here is his information:
----
As a few months ago I celebrated a significant anniversary, and
my grandmother (a new one) started walking five miles a day when she was sixty, she's
ninety-seven now, and we don't know where the hell she is...

So, I'll be reasonable to all Seniors: it will be a 12/14-kilometre walk
or option 10/12-km if you take a bus to reach the RER station Noisy-Champs.
Mobilis ticket or Navigo is preferable.

The walk will take place along the beautiful banks of the Marne and its
parallel canal.
We'll visit the parc of the "Château de Champs" with its garden "à la
Française", one of the finest in France, set in a park in the English style.
* Possible visit of the chateau from 1:30 pm till 5 pm.
----
TRANSPORT
RER A (direction Marne-la-Vallée), stop at NEUILLY-PLAISANCE (zone 3).
Your train passes through Châtelet/Les Halles at 9:40 arriving at
Neuilly-Plaisance at 9:56.
I suggest you travel in the last carriage of the train.
Return from Noisy-Champs on the same line, but in zone 4.
Purchase a single ticket or a Mobilis.
----
About possible strike (and toilet) -- Normally there are many RER on this line but you never know, so perhaps you could take an earlier train depending on the situation. Toilet only in a café.
----
Meeting is outside the station. MAIN EXIT, place de la Gare.
Bring your usual picnic lunch, water and appropriate clothes.
----
See you soon! Vivement mercredi!

May 18 hike

Dear Fellow Hikers ,

A mainly flat walk of 19 km from Epernon to Maintenon with the highlights at the end of the walk being the Louis X1V aqueduct and Chateau de Maintenon but plenty of interest along the way - the pretty Drouette river , a glimpse of the Chateau de Morville , attractive villages , views , churches etc .
First toilet stop after about 40 mins
Lunch will be a little late (maybe 1.15 pm) so if I am feeling charitable we may stop for 5 minutes or so mid morning - bring a snack if you feel the need !

I WILL DRIVE SO WILL MEET YOU AT EPERNON STATION

TRAVEL

BE AWARE  - Both Maintenon and Epernon  are outside of the zones so you will need tickets even if you have a Navigo Pass

Take the 9.06 train from Montparnasse direction Chartres to Epernon arriving at 9.51 . This train calls at Versailles Chantiers at 9.22

Return trains from Maintenon are roughly hourly and we should finish in time to catch the 15.55 - however if you want a bevvy ( drink - usually alcoholic ! ) before catching the train then it could be the 16.55 for Montparnasse or 17.03 for Versailles Chantiers

Wear suitable clothes and footwear - remember it is still early in the season and also consider my reputation as an expert at finding mud ! Bring lunch and plenty of water . There are no opportunities for a bailout on this walk

See you Wednesday
