Hike for 27 February

From Paris to the Sevran forest park, 17 km

For next Wednesday I propose a walk along the Canal de l'Ourcq, from the Parc de la Villette to the Poudrerie Nationale de Sevran.
This walk of about 17 km will be a bit of a dive in the 19th century industrial heritage,
The creation of the canal was ordered by Napoleon Bonaparte in order to bring healthy drinking water to Paris and for commercial purposes.. It takes water from the River Ourcq which flows into the Marne. Nowadays the banks of the Canal de l'Ourcq, former abandoned industrial zone has become a territory in mutation from camps to modern housing and renovation programs, a place of promenade and the street art.

We will pass near Les Grands Moulins de Pantin, then along the banks to the Parc de la Bergère in Bobigny where the picnic will be. If need, you can leave after 8km and take a train in Bondy station  (+1km 1/2) train every 15 min. Zones 3
RER E, direction Haussmann Saint Lazare, correspondence with RER B Gare du Nord
At the end of the walk we'll see some remains of the National Gunpowder Factory which operated from 1873 to 1973.

Getting there:
Metro line 5 direction Bobigny -Picassoget off at Porte de Pantin (Parc de la Villette)
Meeting point: 10h00 Fontaine aux Lions

Return:
from the station Vert-Galant RER B to the Gare du Nord at 15h33, 15h48 ...every 15 min
ticket price 4€45, I suggest you buy it ahead of time or Mobilis zones 4.

Lunch will be a little early then we will have another pause for some snack and rest for those with knees pains.
PS. There are not many possibilities for technical stops!

Looking forward to a sunny Wednesday!
