Wednesday 1 December, end of a hundred-kilometre hike

The Loing at Moret

Dear hikers,

A 100 kilometre-hike !

Next Wednesday we'll end our walk along the GR2. We began a year ago at Le Plessis Chenêt and in several stages we've walked some hundred kilometres across the Seine et Marne. The banks of the Seine await us once more. We'll see two major tributaries, the Loing and the Yonne, as well as the canal barges at St Mammès.

Our walk will take us from Champagne sur Seine to La Grande Paroisse, about 12 km. As an option, we can continue to Montereau Fault Yonne for a walk of 21 km. This last part has not been thoroughly checked out, so we may be fairly late getting back to Paris.

To get there we'll meet at the platform and take the 9.05 train from the Gare de Lyon headed for Montargis. We arrive in Melun at 9.31. There we change trains to catch the 9.36 train headed for Montereau, arriving at Champagne sur Seine (zone 6) at 10.00. Note that we have only five minutes between trains at Melun so we'll want to be fairly nimble getting from one to the other.

The return from La Grande Paroisse (zone 6) is either
  • 14.35 — Paris 15.41 change at Melun
  • 15.35 — Paris 16.41 change at Melun
The return from Montereau (zone 6) gives us three possibilities.
  • 17.30 — Paris 18.43 change at Melun
  • 18.10 — Paris 19.13 direct
  • 18.10 — Paris 19.41 change at Melun
A six-zone Mobilis covers all this. For Parisians, separate one-way tickets are slightly cheaper. If you're coming from the suburbs, the Mobilis is a couple of euros cheaper and far more convenient.

Notre randonnée se situera entre Champagne-sur-Seine et La Grande-Paroisse. Distance : 12 kilomètres.
